We meet reality first as experience.
Only afterward do the maps arrive.
Querying Qualia begins in that interval: before explanation becomes more authoritative than the experience from which explanation arose. It asks what becomes visible when consciousness, meaning, relation and reality are examined from within lived experience rather than from outside it.
The inquiry unfolds through four movements. They are not doctrines to be accepted, but ways of attending to what happens when experience becomes visible, when inherited structures lose coherence, when relation begins to restore itself, and when something genuinely new becomes possible.
The Four Principles are not four separate theories of reality. They name recurring movements within the inquiry: ways in which experience becomes available, structures lose their coherence, relation reorganises, and new form becomes possible.
They should therefore be read less as a sequence of conclusions than as a recursive grammar. Each movement returns within the others. Awareness does not disappear when Collapse begins; Collapse does not cease when Coherence becomes possible; Emergence does not stand outside the field from which it arises.
Volume I: Awareness is the completed first movement of The Four Principles of Sovereign Consciousness and the originating volume of Querying Qualia.
It begins before philosophy has divided experience into subject and object, before explanation has become more authoritative than what it attempts to explain. Its starting point is simpler and more difficult to escape: that anything we know, measure, doubt, interpret or describe must first appear within Awareness.
The volume follows that recognition through the inherited maps of materialism, reductionism, neuroscience and computational explanation; through the persistence of qualia and the structural limits of explanation; and finally toward the recursive question that gives the wider inquiry its ground.
It does not ask the reader to accept a finished ontology. It asks what becomes visible when experience is allowed to remain present long enough for the maps drawn over it to be examined.
The Founders’ Edition marks the first physical appearance of Querying Qualia: a limited hardback edition produced for the earliest readers of the work and for those who wish to hold the originating volume at the point of its public emergence.
This is not a preliminary manuscript or proposal edition. It is the completed Volume I, issued by Querying Qualia Press and now in print production.
Each copy belongs to a strictly limited issue of 250 bound hardbacks and is individually numbered and signed by the author. The edition is produced in charcoal-black cloth with embossing, accompanied by a full-colour dust jacket, in a large 9 × 11.5 inch format across 290 pages.
Awareness establishes the ground from which the remainder of the inquiry becomes possible. Once experience can no longer be treated as an inconvenient remainder of explanation, another pressure begins to appear: the question of what happens when the structures through which reality is interpreted cease to remain coherent with the field they claim to describe.
That pressure is not merely philosophical. It appears wherever an inherited map continues to organise perception after the relations that once gave the map coherence have begun to change. Meaning remains. Language remains. Institutions, habits, identities and explanations remain. Yet the relation between them and the field in which they arise may already have shifted.
Volume II: Collapse begins within that disturbance. It asks what collapse is before it is mistaken for destruction, how coherence becomes asymmetric across scales, and what becomes visible when the instrument of interpretation can no longer remain outside the field it is attempting to understand.
The volumes give Querying Qualia its sustained textual architecture, but the inquiry remains alive wherever experience places pressure upon the maps through which it is being interpreted.
The Field Notes follow those pressures as they become publicly legible. The Ontic Arts turn toward the instruments through which relation, symbol, question, body and attention may themselves become available for inquiry.
Field Notes are public cartographies drawn from the deeper Archives of Querying Qualia.
They begin where lived experience reveals structure: a phrase, a system, a question, a rupture, a pattern of value, or a moment in which an inherited explanation can no longer contain what has become visible.
They are not conclusions. They hold a pattern in view long enough for relation to become available for further inquiry.
The Ontic Arts gather the intuitive, symbolic and participatory practices through which attention enters relation with the living Field.
Symbol, question, body, image, dream and synchronicity are not treated here as substitutes for awareness, nor as systems that answer in our place. They are approached as instruments through which relation may become more perceptible.
Querying Qualia gives the ontology. Ontic Arts names the instruments. Teller’s Tarot demonstrates one instrument in practice.
Orientation remains a future form of structured participation within Querying Qualia. It will not open until Volume II: Collapse is complete. That delay is deliberate. The container should emerge from the architecture it is intended to hold, rather than be imposed upon the inquiry in advance.
As Collapse develops, the question is therefore not only what Orientation might contain, but what kind of relation a coherent container must sustain between text, participant, encounter and Field. Its final form will remain provisional until that movement has been sufficiently disclosed.
